The rise and rise of deepfakes… and how to deal with it and similar future tech

What makes deepfakes different from traditional fake content (like edited photos or staged videos) is the realism and automation. Traditional media manipulation is usually manual and time-consuming. Deepfakes can be generated at scale and can mimic facial expressions, lipsyncing, and even voices.

Deepfake tech on the rise in PH—Kaspersky

Deepfake technology has evolved into a serious cybersecurity threat in the Philippines. Kaspersky reports that AI-generated content is being misused for fraud, identity theft, and political manipulation. The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has noted a rise in deepfake abuse, particularly from foreign criminal groups. Experts are calling for stronger laws, better detection tools, and public education to combat the growing risk. Artificial Intelligence against DLL hijacking: new capabilities of Kaspersky SIEM
